Run in the world’s oldest city

Erbil Marathon is an international sport event in order to establish peace and non-violence in Iraq, and to inform the world that there is a strong community of leaders of civil society in Iraq who are committed to peace and nonviolence for their country.

The first Erbil International Marathon was held in 2011. Over the years, it has become one of Kurdistan’s most popular sport events.

Over 4,000 runners took part in the 7th Erbil International Marathon in 2018. The event features a 42-kilometer marathon, and two other races on 12-kilometer and 4-kilometer courses.
