The Erbil Marathon is an international sporting event aiming to nurture peace and nonviolence in Iraq, demonstrating to the world the strong community of civil society leaders in Iraq committed to dialogue and harmony.
In 2023, more than 4,000 runners participated in the tenth Erbil International Marathon.
The first Erbil International Marathon was held in 2011. Over the years, it has become one of the most popular sporting events in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. In 2023, more than 4,000 runners participated in the tenth Erbil International Marathon. The event features a full 42-kilometer marathon, along with two shorter routes of 12 kilometers and 2 kilometers for a family run.
