Wheat remains one of the biggest crops in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). The area of land harvested for wheat has increased by 80% in the last decade. Wheat and barley combined constitute a significant percentage of all agricultural production. The KRG’s development plan prioritizes the construction of new wheat silos.
